Our CEO, Richard Sunderland, was featured in the Financial Times over the Christmas period commenting on the rise of online auction sites and the impact they are having on brands in an article entitled ‘The proof of the pudding ... is in the bidding’.
The article, by Rhymer Rigby, is a review of how brands are trying to foil attempts by touts to bulk buy and in it Richard identifies the concept of ‘me-tailers; where consumers assume the traditional role of the retailer buyer. He also argues that one approach to tackling the problem of resellers is to make purchasing the product through an official channel more attractive.
