Sky launch their brand new entertainment channel, Sky Atlantic, today with positioning, naming and on-screen identity created by Heavenly.
Heavenly’s Founder and CEO, Richard Sunderland, said: “we’re delighted to have been asked to work on such a flagship channel. Sky Atlantic really is entertainment for the more discerning viewer that is underserved by existing channels”.
Heavenly’s Creative Director, Martin Lambie-Nairn added: “the idents are inspired by the thought that Sky Atlantic is the channel that bridges the best of US and UK culture, shown visually by splicing together British and American locations and seeing them exist on screen at the same moment in time. The two sides complement and contrast to create a dynamic and distinctive representation of the channel positioning”.
Sky Atlantic, which takes slot 108 on the EPG, will provide an exclusive home for all of HBO’s output including Martin Scorsese’s Boardwalk Empire and David Simon’s Treme, as well as series like The Sopranos, The Wire and Six Feet Under. The fifth series of Mad Men will also be shown on the channel as well as a range of exclusive UK programming which is part of Sky’s commitment to original production.
The idents, which were directed by Thomas Napper of HSI London with music by Colin Towns, show five different scenarios, including Cafe, City Nights and Train. Heavenly worked with Prime Focus for post production.
